I am a dedicated wife, mother of five, hopeless romantic, and lover of elegance. My heart beats a little faster at the sight of French design, art inspired by the sea, artistically set tables, artfully presented food, and all things Christmas and holiday. My passions began at a young age, when I would bargain with my mother to help hand wash the china if I could set a "fancy" table for dinner. I even studied the art of napkin folding in books, and practiced baking hors d'oeuvres and decorating pies and cakes. I loved to create elegance!
My first creative business pursuit was as a trained Cosmetologist. The instant gratification of making women look and feel beautiful, as well as forming personal friendships was addicting. But, this addiction had little to do with hair. At the heart of my passion was the desire to create things that are visually appealing, to inspire feelings of elegance and fancy, and to connect people in a more personal way. This was the genesis for The Refined Hare.
Over the past 15 years, my focus has shifted from styling heads to styling homes and events. My design influences have come from living in various regions across the country, particularly the South, where all things are elegant, formal and traditional - with an emphasis placed on etiquette. I also love to travel and gain inspiration from cultures, as well as from studying books, magazines, and other talented design artists.
Overall, I have found that in creating beautiful spaces and gatherings, there is a magical result that helps people feel special and more connected to each other. This applies to families with their spaces in the home, as well as to friends with the social events they host or attend. For me, helping people create these magical memories is addicting, and it will be for you too.
